Scouting for the invasive species Eobania vermiculata (Müller, 1774)

Henk Mienis, manager of the Mollusc Collection, searching for specimens of the exotic Chocolate-band land snail Eobania vermiculata (Müller, 1774) in Givat Ram (Hebrew University of Jerusalem). The species was first collected in Israel from gardens in Jerusalem by Prof. Haas in 1939. Today it is additionally found in gardens and parks that are regularly irrigated in other major cities in Israel, including Tel Aviv, Rehovot, Ashdod and Be’er Sheba. Dense populations of Eobania vermiculata are found in Givat Ram near the African lily Agapanthus species.
