Biodiversity_Next conference, Leiden- The Netherlands 2019

The HUJI NNHC members participated at the Biodiversity_Next 2019 conference, held in late October 2019, in order to share ideas, research and tools to promote innovation in biodiversity & geodiversity information science and applications.

Dr. Efrat Gavish-Regev from the Arachnid collection and Yael Leshno from the mollusc collection contributed oral presentations, Prof. Gila Kahila Bar-Gal, head of collections NNHC HUJ, and member of the organizing committee of the conference BIODIVERSITY NEXT, Prof. Rivka Rabinovich, and Dr. Eshel Ofir, all participated in workshops, symposia, and meetings to enhance research and infrastructure and decision-making processes related.

Dr. Efrat Gavish-Regev talked about the value of citizen science in the study of Israel’s scorpiones. .Her talk was part of the Developing a Data-Literate Workforce in Biodiversity Science symposia (Ellwood E, Michonneau F, Monfils A, Paul DL, Montoya R, Russell L) and talked about Citizen-Science and a case-study – Israel Scorpiones

The Role of Natural History Collections in Public Engagement for Enhancing Biodiversity Research

Yael Leshno represented the Mollusc collection in a talk on the digitization efforts of the recent brachiopod collection and it’s importance to different research avenues such as paleoecology.
