New Course: Israel Taxonomy Initiative Course

We are happy to announce the Israel Taxonomy Initiative Course

Harvestmen (Arachnida, Opiliones) of Israel: Taxonomy, morphology, and biogeography

That will be held on 18-22 June 2017, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

Course Instructor:

Prashant P. Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Madison, WI, USA

The arachnid order Opiliones (“harvestmen” or “daddy-long-legs”) is a poorly studied group of arthropods often mistaken for spiders.

Approximately 20 species of harvestmen are known from Israel, likely a gross underestimate of their biodiversity.

The proposed course will convey taxonomic and systematic studies of harvestmen, broadly surveying the group’s biodiversity and relevance for hypothesis-testing in historical biogeography

For further details see the Syllabus.
